Liquid Foundation Make Up Review: Estée Lauder Double Wear
Stay-in-Place Liquid Foundation
This is the first Estée Lauder product that I ever bought. This was quite a gamble because I never tested their products before. Despite that, I wasn’t disappointed at all. 🙂
I read somewhere that people with oily / combination skin should invest on a foundation
that won’t worsen the current facial situation. (rhymes!)
I checked various make up review websites to help me buy my HG foundation. From power, mineral, to liquid foundation, I chose to buy a liquid foundation. But I was still considering to buy MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation. It was actually my first choice vs. Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Foundation.
On the day I was supppsed to go to Glorietta to buy the MAC, something came up! I don’t remember why I couldn’t go to Glorietta anymore but out of frustration, I bought The Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Foundation.
Good thing I haven’t regretted it ever since!! 🙂
Here’s what Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Foundation promises:
“For all skin types.
This remarkable lasting, yet lightweight make up wears comfortably up to 15 hours, even in high humidity. Won’t smudge or come off on clothes. Oil-free. Fragrance-free. Non-acnegenic. Dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested.”
After more than 10 months of using this wondaaaaful liquid foundation, here’s what I have to say. 🙂
Price: P1900
Where: Rustan’s Gateway, Cubao
Shade: I have mine in Tawny
“For all skin types”
I’m not a dermatologist but based on my experience, I would specifically recommend this for girls with oily and combination skin types, like me.
This product has SPF 10. It is also oil-free; a definite requirement for any make up product for us oily skinned girls. Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Foundation feels light and lets my skin breathe. This is another plus! 🙂 It’s as if I’m not wearing any foundation at all. I’ll tell you why later in his review. 🙂
“Wears comfortably up to 15 hours, even in high humidity.”
Let me tell you a story how long lasting this product is. I immediately put this product to the test the first time I used it. Here in the Philippines, there are a lot of thirft shops or “ukay shops” around. In one particular ukay building in Anonas, Cubao, I went through more than 10 shops. This means sweat + dust + humid atmosphere = icky melting makeup. Some shops were air conditioned while most of them weren’t. After almost 5 hours of thrift shop hopping, the foundation was still there.
I wipped my face a lot of times and patted my hanky all over it. After shopping, I was able to go to my family dinner and if I may say, I still looked smooth and clear skinned. 🙂
“Won’t smudge or come off on clothes.”
I’m not sure whether it does smudge or not. After putting on Double Wear, I use MAC Blotting Power in Medium Dark to set the liquid foundation. Whenever I blot my face with tissue paper or a white handerchief, I see colors come off. I’m not sure whether I’m seeing the blotting power or the liquid foundation. Sometimes, I also see smudges on the collar of the shirts I use after taking them off.
“Oil-free. Fragrance-free. Non-acnegenic.”
After months of using it, I can say that this doesn’t make me shine after wearing it – it’s oil free. It evens out my skin tone, make me look smoother and fresh! Yes, the product has no smell and most importantly, it doesn’t worsen my acne. Estée Lauder Double Wear Liquid Foundation doesn’t even make my skin break out. I know it’s bad but there were a lot of times that I sleep with my make up on. Yet the next day, no acne or pimple “sightings” visible on my skin!! 🙂
More about this wonder bottle. 🙂
1. Easy to apply.
When I use this, I simply put some on different areas of my face and use my TheFaceShop liquid foundation brush to spread the product. The Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation blends easily on the skin and makes you look like you’ve got noooo make up on. While a circular motion is used to apply mineral make up, use a criss-cross motion when applying liquid foundation to really blend it in your skin. This ensures that you have the foundation applied well onto your face and so it’ll look natural.
2. A little goes a long way.
With the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation, you don’t have to use a lot of the product to see the results. It gives me medium to full coverage (it’s very buildable) even with just little dots on my face. There’s no need to reapply this product after your first application. Blotting powder will do for retouch. 🙂
3. Use a brush, not fingers.
For me, I use TheFaceShop’s liquid foundation brush. It’s a flat tapered brush with soft synthetic bristles. Actually, any brush will do as long as it has synthetic bristles as this is ideal for liquid foundation. It’ll would be rather difficult to use your fingers to spread the product onto your face. But once you get the hang of using a liquid foundation brush, you can have an airbrushed foundation effect.
Ooohh! And one last note: Do not forget your neck. 🙂
Sometimes, I see girls with beautiful, smooth skin on their faces but then my eyes gets dragged down to their necks only to see an entirely different skin tone. Do not forget to apply some product on your neck to make everything look natural.
I love Estée Lauder Double Wear Liquid Foundation. I would like to think this is my HG foundation but I still haven’t tried other products. So far, this product hasn’t failed me. I can wear this everyday because its lightweight, gives medium coverage and still lets my skin breathe. 🙂
Love,
Kist ❤
Yo! have you tried a tinted moisturizer? I’m thinking of buying the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer spf 20. Although I don’t know kung saan meron and it sounds expensive.
Hi! I haven’t tried tinted moisturizers. 😦 Read some reviews about it first. Watch some videos on YouTube too. Very useful! haha 😀 I know two places where they have Laura Mercier. One is in Glorietta. Its beside the MAC. 😀 The 2nd one is at Rustan’s in Gateway. 😀
hi! thanks for the review. did you use a primer under the foundie?
Hi Amber! No I didn’t. 🙂 The experience I had was just the foundation alone. It works even better with a foundation primer. 🙂 I’ve tested it so many times with positive results!
Hi,
May I know what shade do you use in MAC foundations? I am in the quest of finding the right shade for my NC30 skin as Sand is really too light for me. I wanted to try Tawny though.
Hi! I haven’t used MAC foundations yet. I suggest you ask the MAC ladies. They’re pretty helpful in finding the right shade for your skin tone! 😀

Shheeeemm!! Talagang 2 ang reply? haha 😀 Salamat ah! Oo! try mo to!! They have a newer version of this. It’s called Estee Lauder Double Wear Light.
